I live in a remote part of Alaska, 70 miles from the road system. I am looking for ways to move and place logs without heavy equipment. I hauls logs to the site with a snow machine but am looking for ways to handle logs at the building site.

Hey Chuck and welcome to the site...

For your question, You could use some nearby trees to install a log ramp system for pulling up the logs with a come-along. Here's a small drawing of what I mean...... (courtesy of "Complete Guide to Building Log Homes") by Monte Burch

Here's another thing that could help if you have a few solid trees around the building site...... Hope it helps somehow....
