I needed a quick storage/shop area for all my carpentry stuff and this seemed the fastest way of getting it. Didn't really bother centering the logs exacly right and the size of logs wasn't a priority at first.. but soon realized that I was making several mistakes!!! I borrowed a friend's tractor to lift the logs in place and used 1 foot spikes to keep the logs together. Added a 2x6 rafter system as the roof system and as worked fine for me thus far... only problem is that, while the logs settled, the chinking material I used (mortar) is falling apart with time. I'll be going to Eaganville, Ontario next year to get me a few 5 gallons of Perma Chink product. It's elastic, mortar appearance really accents the wood details, making it waterproof, windproof and insectproof.
