Changed hosting services. I was with BlueHost! Their servers couldn't handle the memory usage when viewers went to websites and as a result, error messages were appearing and redirecting people around. Enough to screw up my ratings on web searches... Conclusion: I switched to Sapphire Web Design. They are professionals that care about their clients and don't promise tons of access that the client doesn't really have anyways.... Tons of features that crash with each other, using valuable disk space, memory and tons of heartaches....

Anyways, I'm way better off with what I have know, very satisfied with Sapphire's ample knowhow, friendly advices and fast services!!!

After I had built my garage the chink style, I wanted to experiment with other log styles a bit and so, I started to build a log doghouse for Casey, my German Shepard dog.

I tried the butt style with this one. I milled the logs to 4 inches and began stacking them until it reached a height suitable for the dog to enter and exit without hitting it's head or causing injury.... she loves it as it is virtually windproof and waterproof!!! I used 6 inch screws to secure the logs to each other and insulated each flats as it went up.

It went up real fast and was easy to produce using a small mill system to square the logs. The roof was made of 2x4 material and plywood.

The next one I did was for the mother-in-law. I did it chinkless style! A little more slow to do but shows off the skill of the cuts, produced by the scribbers and the chainsaw.

I needed a quick storage/shop area for all my carpentry stuff and this seemed the fastest way of getting it. Didn't really bother centering the logs exacly right and the size of logs wasn't a priority at first.. but soon realized that I was making several mistakes!!! I borrowed a friend's tractor to lift the logs in place and used 1 foot spikes to keep the logs together. Added a 2x6 rafter system as the roof system and as worked fine for me thus far... only problem is that, while the logs settled, the chinking material I used (mortar) is falling apart with time. I'll be going to Eaganville, Ontario next year to get me a few 5 gallons of Perma Chink product. It's elastic, mortar appearance really accents the wood details, making it waterproof, windproof and insectproof.:educate:
